Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of cultural preservation and youth empowerment among tribal communities in Gumla District, Jharkhand. Through a mixed-methods approach, including interviews, surveys, and observation, the research explores the challenges and opportunities shaping indigenous identity formation, cultural engagement, and socio-economic development among tribal youth. Findings reveal the resilience of traditional cultural practices and the critical role of community-based initiatives in promoting cultural pride and continuity. However, globalization, urbanization, and environmental degradation pose significant threats to cultural preservation, exacerbating socio-economic inequalities and undermining indigenous livelihoods. The study highlights the importance of intergenerational transmission of knowledge, culturally relevant education, and sustainable development initiatives in empowering tribal youth to reclaim, revitalize, and celebrate their cultural heritage in the face of contemporary challenges.
