A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF LEGAL REFORMS OF CORPORATE GOVERNANCE IN INDIA

Abstract
Corporate Governance in India has witnessed rapid changes in the past decade. If this positive trend continues, India stands to achieve top-tier corporate governance standards, essential for sustaining its impressive growth rates. This paper examines the development of corporate governance standards in India. It commences with the talk about the pre-existing managerial system before independence and changes post-independence, reforms brought about after 1991 economic reforms, recommendation of various committees, clause 49 the listing agreement, Satyam scandal, reforms after Satyam scam with special focus on critical examination of company act of 2013. The methodology adopted for writing this research article is of doctrinal in nature.
